Possible Cure For Hearing Loss?

Four out of five people with hearing impairment have a type of hearing loss known as “sensorineural,” which is due to the damage or death of “hair cells” in the inner ear. These sensory cells, which are responsible for transmitting sound information to the auditory nerve, cannot be replaced, and there are no medicines to treat hearing loss. However, all this may soon change. Researchers have discovered that a compound known as “kenpaullone” offered protection from noise- and drug-related hearing loss by preventing the death of inner ear cells. The compound was also found to protect against hearing loss caused by noise up to 100 decibels. This groundbreaking research has vast implications for preventing and treating hearing loss.
Put your hearing future in the hands of a caring professional. Once a hearing test uncovers a hearing impairment, it is the job of Brenda, your doctor of audiology to find the perfect match between patient and remedy. Brenda will take into consideration all the many factors that can affect the successful treatment of hearing loss. Let us do what we do best—call on The Ear Clinic, 46 Nelson Street W., across from the LCBO, for comprehensive testing, experienced evaluations, custom fittings, quality hearing products, and the best follow-up care. Call us at 226-909-0966 to arrange a complimentary hearing evaluation.
P.S. Hair cells derive their name from the fact that they have “stereocilia,” or “hairs,” that stick out.
